Artist Statement

One’s imagination is a vast place where we create ideas, remember memories and solve problems. My work shown is my imagination running free on a page sometimes within a given prompt. My art shows different ideas that have been crafted within my head through different experiences, people I have met, conversations with my fellow classmates and books that I have read. My goal as an artist is to invoke thoughts in one’s mind that you may not conjure up on your own and to help the viewer to remember that your mind is a place full of ideas. I enjoy the world of whimsicality that art offers to me and in my work, I show that I enjoy putting a twist on reality. Throughout my two years studying Art at CSEC I have explored many different mediums such as charcoal, pencil, watercolour and acrylic along with different art styles. I have found that I enjoy doing graphic styled pieces in acrylic the most. My father enjoys sculpting and bending wire and I believe, that the experiences of sculpting and creating as a child with my father have had an influence on the vast imagination that I have today. My motivation to keep doing art is knowing that I can express myself through it. This keeps me wanting to improve techniques and try new ones.
