Yin Lee Assang

During my journey of becoming an artist, I have learnt that art is not only about the physical aspects, such as painting, but also the emotional aspects from my experiences. I didn't understand how people were able to convey feelings through their pieces until I, myself created my very own and truly understood what that feeling was like. There is no favourite medium that I use, but my preferences are colour pencils and acrylic paint as they are (in my opinion) easier to use and manipulate. Over the course of time, I have learnt more about myself when I explored the themes of my pieces. Generally, my pieces are based on experiences, emotions and the environment. I incorporate particular experiences and emotions into my pieces while some may be portraits and others are based on current situations such as global warming. The main goal for my work is to challenge the minds of the audience and to give them something to think about.
